In my internet travels and life experiences Ive come across all kinds of ass backwards situations in our country whether in be in the corporate world or government world.  This is one of those situations…

Back in my days of disgusting cafeteria food, I remember meals having some potatoes or hashbrowns then they turned the leftovers into mashed potatoes once they went bad.  Then some kind of smashed and reheated frozen meat, followed up with a fruit cup or tapioca.. It was always gnarly when I was a kid.  Luckily my parents felt my pain and packed me a lunch for school.  I got away lucky… but most poor bastards don’t these days.  Public school lunches used to just be disgusting piles of slop, then through backdoor deals and arrangements with food product companies they become edible chemical loaded slop.  Heaps of soggy overly oiled and salty French fries, fake sugar filled juice, and other processed and preservative loaded meals.  Its pretty bad.  Then to add some salt and lemon juice to that open wound… Prisoners are eating better then the young minds of America.

More reports keep hitting the media on how murderers / rapists / gang members / child molestors and others are eating better than Americas youth.  Prisons, unlike public schools, normally prepare meals from scratch as opposed to dropping a frozen brick of chicken nuggets into a deep frier.  So whats on the menu in prison?  Balanced meals prepared from scratch by a government employed chef.  Normally prisoners are provided breakfast and dinner and have the option of lunchtime snacks.  Some one who could rape and murder then possibly rape the dead body again is eating better than Americas children in public schools.  What the FUCK!?

So maybe you think.. well, its got to be a matter of money.  WRONG.  Schools receive a budget estimated around $2.70 a meal while most prisons get away with meals from scratch made for less than $2.  Yet by some magical ability… prison budgeters and chefs are able to still get balanced meals and the necessary servings of fruits, vegetables etc. to prison inmates.  All the while little jack and Jill at Bear Valley elementary eat a daily dose of processed Chicken filets, and repurposed meats with a side of full fat chocolate milk and Kool Aid. Prison meals are also screened and most of the time submitted to a dietician or nutritionist for approval.  Public schools… Nope.

So viewing all this information.. how do you feel?  What is your take on the government run system allowing our kids to eat like prisoners, and prisoners being fed balanced meals approved by certified dieticians?  Why is this ass backwards!?  Someone help me here!!
