Apparently Muslim leaders are trying to build a 13 story mosque in the middle of downtown New York, in a building location that has been closed since 9/11 because a plane fuselage smashed into the building forcing owners to vacate.

Basically giving permission to build a mosque at 45 Park Place in downtown New York. How could the community board allow a gigantic mosque to be built there? It would literally be in the shadow of where the World Trade Center stood before an Islamic jihad attack stole thousands of lives and changed our country forever. They are allowing a gigantic gathering place to be built for people who worship the ideologies that brought about the attack on the US. I almost want to stop the article there because Im that speechless. Yet, I need to add that on May 1st, 4 days before this was approved there was “The Times Square incident. For anyone who has been under a rock the past month, this incident involved an SUV that was parked in Time Square where the cops are saying there were 3 propane tanks, black powder and a timing device inside. Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized U.S. citizen, who recently spent five months in Pakistan, was arrested on terrorism and weapons of mass destruction charges for trying to blow up the bomb. The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the bomb plot…
As a little history lesson to folks out there, Islam has a long and bloody past of building their mosques over the holy places of other religions as a symbol of the Muslim religions dominance over another. Would you like an example? Okie Dokie… Ayasofya Mosque was built in the former Hagia Sophia basilica in Istanbul… Al-Aqsa Mosque was built on the top of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem… Umayyad Mosque was built in Damascus right on top of where the Church of St. John the Baptist once stood. Ill stop there, I think you get the picture.
I need to clarify something real quick here… I am not prejudiced against Muslims. I am prejudiced against terrorists that kill thousands of my fellow Americans, who happen to be Muslim. I want to know why the fuck a gigantic Muslim Mosque is being built at 45 Park place in downtown Manhattan. If the Japanese wanted to open an embassy or Japanese cultural center next to Pearl Harbor, you think that might be a little insensitive? How about a German appreciation building on top of where Auschwitz was? That would be LUDICROUS! The construction of this site is bullshit… it’s a slap in the face to every person in America who had a friend or family member die in the attacks, as a matter of fact it’s a slap in the face to every American. I think Muslims can build mosques all they want to, but building it in the backyard of where your religions extremists committed the biggest mass murder of Americans in history is fucking disgusting.
If Muslims want to build something at that location how about a center devoted to removing all Islamic teachings of the “jihad” or the other Koran texts that specifically mention hate, and incitement to violence. Which it does prescribe! Im not just ignorantly spouting out nonsense. Feel free to get “The Koran for Dummies”.
Currently the “Cordoba House” still has fundraising obstacles to get through in order to be built, and even if the funds are raised it wouldn’t be completed until 2014 or later. Apparently it needs $100 million dollars to complete the mosque. Yet this doesn’t necessarily matter to me, the fact that the American government, in any form, allowed this insensitive shit to happen.
The name of the spiritual leader behind the build is named Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, and he has stated he hopes to get donations in America and abroad. I know our country allows freedom of religion and freedom of assembly which is the right of the people to peaceably assemble. So their hands are somewhat tied.. BUT, just like any asshole cop that Ive had to deal with… If they really want to get you, they can find that loophole or different law to accomplish their goal of… punishing you.
It seems destined to happen at this point, and I expect my government to do its job and check every single aspect of this construction and people involved. I want to know everything about Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, and if he has any ties to Muslim fundamentalists. I want to know that this 13 story building isn’t going to be used as a Trojan horse to fill with weapons of mass destruction and destroy New York City. Call me a paranoid delusional, call me racist, I DON’T CARE. We need to learn from history, and unfortunately the largest attack on the United States was conducted by fundamentalist Muslims. Certain measures should be taken.
I would REALLY like to get opinions, either for or against everything Ive said.. If your Muslim, even better, Id like to get some different points of view.

A difficult idea to digest. I admit to being torn on this topic for many reasons: Much like our glorious author I too am all for freedom of whatever the fuck you want as long as it doesnt directly OR INDIRECTLY cause harm to someone. Im not really about being sensitive or politically correct because that just leaves too much to be interpreted. Its also hard for us to pass this kind of judgement because our own religion (which I am not affiliated with but my country is) builds in places that was dominated so long ago by us. What I would like to know is if they made the design before the building and the site is the only suitable site, etc. Im not keen on this idea, i would strive to find a better site. Something to think about (conspiracy theory ONLY) is that Obama is/was Muslim. I would have to think on this for awhile longer before i could give you a definitive opinion.
I’m not fully aware of locations and streets in New York, how close are we talking here? Like 1 block, 6 blocks, or next door neighbors to where the towers once stood?
My next question is, are there better locations that this could be built, have they actually looked at other areas in New York that might not be such a large controversy at this point?
Lastly can we put up some bulletin boards at the WTC site.. stuff like, remember 9/11, Help fight terrorism, etc. and face them in their direction?

Now anyone who has seen the 5 sec clip of the “plane” that hit the pentagon knows there were more then one camera pointed at that side of the building. So why cant we see what really hit it? Why are there so many unanswered questions to this attack. The biggest unanswered question is WTC 7. How in the hell did this building fall? Now as for the article. I don’t think this is a problem to have a mosque built at Ground Zero. I don’t care. I am more pissed off at the apathy of the Americans. Fire lesson for you, exposed steel beams and supports fail at about 1,000 degrees. The beams lose all of their strength and can no longer carry a load. That is why for the last 50 years steel beams used in construction must be coated or protected in some fashion. When the planes hit the building they simply scraped away the coating enough to let the beams be exposed, a little jet fuel fire and down goes the building.
Mosques are OK in a proper location, anything within eyeshot of the twin towers prior location is not a proper location. Great Article.

I will also say too that the new york city council panel that approved the building of this “place of worship” really has no authority in the actual building of this. Which means two things.

I do think its odd that at the pentagon they wont release video tapes from nearby hotels that captured the entire thing. I think its odd that there was just one big hole in the side of the pentagon and no marks from wings and tail. Americans are constantly berated for intolerance of Muslims and Muslim-Americans, why is it to much to ask that for once the Muslim’s be tolerant of everyone else?
