MMA vs Boxing

Posted on 03 May 2009

pacquiao

Alright all you boxing fans, bring your hate here and I will squash you.  Contrary to what you may think, this is not going to be an article bashing Boxing left and right, I will bash boxing, a lot, but I understand its place in history.  The simple fact is that boxing has passed its prime, people have been making excuses for boxing for a long time now, and I’m fed up with it.  Let us begin…

MMA is 1 million times better than boxing.  For starters, in boxing you have 20 different sanctioning bodies. That means if I fight at Light Weight, and I hold the WBO title, there is probably 12 other little midgets running around with a Light Weight title of their own.  That is bullshit, that’s why boxing has been in the decline since the 90′s.  The simple fact that they have watered down the sport of boxing to a point where you don’t even know who is really the champ, shit I’m looking at the champions right now, and there is 5 different guys. BULL SHIT, you have 1 champ, bottom line, fuck all this “little kid soccer” mentality, everyone doesn’t get a god damn trophy.  Now, in MMA, you can have different champions, but there is only one champion per organization, and since right now the UFC is the NFL of mixed martial arts, their isn’t really any discussion around someone else being much better than whoever is their current champion.

Next reason why boxing blows my chode, to much relies on a boxer’s record.  Has anyone actually paid attention to what’s going on with records in boxing?  Lets take the fight that just happened this past weekend, Manny Pacquiao VS Ricky Hatton,  Manny, who’s record is 49 – 3, pretty good record in boxing yeah? Ricky Hatton, who’s record is 45 – 2.  Now Manny knocked Hatton out cold in Saturdays fight, and they are predicting Hatton should retire.  Ok, what? I’m sorry, Hatton has 2 losses, 1 to the number ranked Boxer (Mayweather) and the 2nd just happened.  This is what pisses me off about boxing, you have a guy who has only lost twice, to the 2 best boxers in the world right now, and he should retire? The kid is in early 30′s still probably has anothgsper 5 years to box, but yet, he losses twice and he’s garbage? HORSESHIT! None of this even includes that boxers fight losers for there first 20 matches, they are being fed guys to pad their stats. Boxing is gay because they push guys out for losing 1 fight.

In MMA, you have a guy like George St. Pierre who’s 1 of 3 guys who are talked about as the best in MMA, has a record of 18 – 2, 1 of his losses was to  a guy who wasn’t even ranked.  Basically a lucky shot clipped him wrong. Now if this was boxing Georges St. Pierre, would be asked to retire because he lost to a lesser fighter, and we would have missed out on him becoming one of the greatest of all times, to that I spit in the face of boxing fans, SPIT I SAY!

MMA is better than boxing for one important reason. Freak show fights.  That’s right baby, there is nothing better than a MMA freahong-man-choik show fight.  Boxing doesn’t have anything like this, unless you count celebrity boxing, wjosehich I don’t because I’m not a faggot.  Anyways, Freak show fights over in Japan are a staple of MMA shows, you can have a 9 foot tall Korean man fighting a Kick boxer, and it’s great.  Hell the perfect example is a show over in Japan, the company is called Dream, and they are having one of the greatest freak show fights ever.  It’s going to be a 7 foot tall “rapping Korean kick boxer” who’s name is Hong Man “the techno Goliath” Choi against Jose Canseco.  Yeah that’s right, Jose Canseco bitch’s.  The same Jose that spilled the beans on baseball.  Apparently Canseco has claimed he is a marital arts expert, so he’s been training, and he’s got his first fight over in Japan.  Do I really need to go on?

mma-bloodbaths1I’d like to take a second and address the MMA haters out their.  I hear the complaint a lot that MMA is barbaric and that there is no skill involved, like the sweet science of boxing.  Fuck you, MMA takes a whole different level of commitment than boxing ever could.  I would venture to guess, and by guess, I mean tell you I’m right, that  mixed martial arts requires even more technique  than boxing, not only do you have to worry about getting punched in the face, you have to protect against take-downs, or elbows, or knee’s and kicks.  Seems to me if you apply simple math to this, you’d be able to say, more skills in an MMA fighter = more skillful sport.

Lastly I’d like to discuss, Tournaments.  This is the single reason why MMA has destroyed boxing, when you have a kick ass MMA tournament going, there is nothing better. Especially when all the fights are in the same night. The UFC has gotten away from there tournaments due to legal reasons here in the states, but those crazy slantly eyes overseas are still going  strong.  Imagine if you will an 8 man tournament all taking place in one night, you have a fighter who just went through a 3 round war, who has to get up and fight again, nothing speaks better to the conditioning of a MMA fighter.  I still dream of the day when the UFC holds another tournament overseas somewhere; I could just imagine the amazingness of such things.

So after you’ve read this I will assume you have all decided that I am correct in that MMA is by far a better sport than Boxing, and in fact that boxing is actually gay.  Now I know I can’t win everyone over, so if you have beef with me, we can take it to the cage, where I will systematically make you my bitch, and show you through brute force and raw super sexy aggression, that MMA is better. Now go get daddy a beer, its fight time.

ok ok ok…I’ll be the one sticking up for boxing I guess. Here we go Kevin and Mitch. First off, I do not hate MMA. I think the comming of two men or women trowing on 6 oz gloves (I don’t know the Oz for sure), standing in a octogon and trying to kill eachother has shadowed the spotlight of boxing, a little. But, theres always a but, how long does it take a boxer to rise through the ranks to get his pay day? How much did Manny make last night? Enough to shit hundo’s on my face. How much did he make fighting garbage ass De La Homo. Enough to enslave me and take me back to the P.I. Now the question is, how long does it take a kid from the midwest who’s wrestled bears his whole life to get his shot at the title? Exactly! It’s not all about money but the simple fact is I’m never going to buy a hyped up MMA fight on PPV and watch the main event ( Liddell and Jackson in 2007) and watch it go 17 sec in the first. Boxing is a sport that will never die and the money and viewers will always keep it afloat. In conclusion, you guys are gay and im getting my dick sucked while writing this. Oh, keep bringing up shit that this and I’ll smash your topic like a fucking vollyball on your face! stevo

The people who run the scenes fuck it all up. they think too much or not enough. Kimbo Slice…need I say more there?
Like everything worth watching these days it’s all commercialized and boring. I don’t mind watching a MMA fight if it goes on forever and it’s all more technical than brutal, but sometimes it just plain old sucks! And too many huggers in boxing. Too much money involved. I have better things to watch in life then two men covered in gold and ego; and that goes for both sports.

I have a lot of respect for boxers. Any fight starts on the feet, and a good set of hands can end a fight quick. Seriously, who wants to pay to watch a fight go on for 10 rounds of boringness. If the guys are really fighting to fight, and not for points, then a fight would never last more than a few rounds. Which is why I like Manny. He put out Hatton in 2 rounds, whereas it took Pretty Boy 10? But damn I bet Pretty Boy got a lot of points. Did you get into boxing as a kid to score points or to knock people out? And as far as the money goes….the money will come for these MMA fighters. I think it just proves the heart of these guys, that they are fighting for the fight and not just for the paycheck.

I can’t wait for Pac Man to put out the Pretty Boy!!!!!

    oh stevo,

    little do you know.

If you want to talk about pay, thats fine, lets talk about the payday that a fighter just got.

Fedor, the greatest Mixed martial artist. Just recently was paid in the millions. Now that was just his standard pay to fight/win. Not counting any of this sponsorship deals that he has going on top of that.

Their are many MMA fighters who make a very good living in the sport. Yes it’s not as large as boxing, but give it a few more years and it will be.

Kevin…. just say it. Come out and say it.

    “Fuck you Bevo”

Any man with a hair on his chest and set of testicles appreciates boxers fighting for our entertainment, but when you tell me Forrest griffin is gonna fight brock lesnor, excuse me if I will pass ANY boxing match you can set up.

Talk all you want about technique or any of that bullshit, but you watch a sport for the thrills… the haymakers, the knockouts, the shoulder popped out of the socket with a bad ass submission. Theres no hugging in MMA, and if it gets so gay that neither fighter is doing shit on the ground a ref HAS to stand them up again.

Basically, fuck you Bevo. when you tell me theres going to be a UFC PPV, and a WORLD BOXING ORGANIZATION or THE WORLD BOXING ASSOCIATION or WORLD BOXING COUNCIL, or even NORTH AMERICAN BOXING FEDERATION event the same night… IM BUYING A GOD DAMN UFC EVENT.

    Eat shit.

Boxing has been around forever, literally, and its evolved into something you just want to piss on. Greedy promoters, a hundred sanctioning bodies, and poor champions. Someone like Lennox Lewis can suck on it, all he did was score points. There was no entertainment in his fighting, but he kept the belt. But the face of the UFC Dana White wont stand for that. He actually APOLOGIZED after the last Anderson Silva fight on ppv because it wasnt ENTERTAINING. APOLOGIZED!!!!! when the hell has that ever happened in boxing? MMA is good entertainment I would pay for.

oh my my my…tweedle dee and teewdle dumb ( you guys can squable over who’s who). Lets start by untucking our dicks and realizing what pussies you guys are. Hands down, I’d rather become a boxer more than an abused as a child MMA fighter. For example, I saw Nick and Nate Diaz at the Asp Festival. What was the first thing I thought? I would kick both their ass’s at the same time with one of my arms tied behind my back, maybe. Both looked like they were on unemployment. MMA fighters my bare bald ass. That story has some relivence but I dont give a shit anyway, I wanted to tell it. You only feel that you’re right ( this goes for both homo’s) because you wrote this grade B- article. Bias and one sided…might as well turned on Fox news. Im sure your parents will be fine with the fact you two run off to Vermont to get married. On your honeymoon you guys can reanact some of the good MMA fights that were souly on the mat for 15 min. Who’s on top and who’s on the bottom.? This site should be called “thishotstevo.com”
    I think I just sunk your Battleship….BOOOOYA

Wow.. so you saw a guy from Stockton, who lives in stockton and he looked like he was on unemployment? Wow, im shocked.. Obviously a person living in Stockton looks like shit.

Where do you live again steve?

And what the fuck!? your using Nick and Nate Diaz as your poster boy for the entire sport of MMA? Suck my dick. How about I use Glass joe from Mike Tysons punch out for boxing!?! Erick beat up one of those fuckers with a toilet seat… kiss my ass.

Comparing this to Fox News is below the belt and uncalled for, and you disgust me. Does Fox news have a comment section??? I think not!!

    Yet again… eat shit Bevo..

  16. Deano Mac says:

The biggest problem with boxing is that there are only a few superstars in the sport and that’s why boxing is fading. There will always be the mega fights in boxing but that’s it. So there’s like 3 big fights a year. In mma there are dozens of big names that people actually care about and you get to see them fight a lot more often. I love mma like one billion times more than I like boxing. However, I don’t think mma will ever be what boxing was in it’s golden age. That being said, since that golden age of boxing is long over, MMA dickslaps boxing for the rest of eternity.

So I was reading this article when I realized that everyone who’s had their brains shrunken by steroids is into MMA. That’s when I concluded that the author of this article is a cock smoker.

There are only two fighting sports I would like to watch:
One is Boxing, wherein two men fight with their fists and skills to outwit each other in a game of fierce offensive and defensive strategies.
The other: Starved Gladiatorial Cannibalistic Survival, wherein four or so completely naked and starved to frenzied hunger men are pitted against each other around a campfire armed with only their balls and a led pipe. The rules are kinda like badminton only instead of hitting the shuttlecock, they hit each other in the head until the last man standing has satisfied his lust for human flesh. Also, you’re out if you splatter blood out of bounds.

  19. kevin rogers says:
    May 4, 2009 at 11:15 AM

look zac, i was going to blast you for sayin i’m a cock smoker.

but you went on to redeem yourself with that nonsense about gladiatorial survival.

kudos, you get to live another day with dignity.

  20. Zac Magnum says:

Kevin, it’s not nonsense. Was it nonsense when 42 midgets fought an African Lion? I think not.

I just hate how you get these fucking rednecks who think they know everything about fighting and can kick everyone’s ass just because they watched a couple UFC fights. I swear to God if I hear another redneck tell me that he’s gonna put me in a “fish-hook donkey slap hold” or whatever I’m going to kill a puppy. Please take that Winston off of your lower lip and finish that can of warm flat “Milwaukee’s Best” before you even think about saying you’re gonna square off with somebody for a few rounds. Just because you watched a couple UFC Fights and re-runs of A-Team on that “Magic Moving Picture Box” you have underneath your George Foreskin Grill in the kitchen/living room/bathroom of your ’83 Airstream DOES NOT mean you know Jiu-Jitsu or Akido. Get bent and do what you do best, fuck your cousins, make meth and race cars. Way to make a good name for the white race! You fucking skid-marks on the underpants of society…….and midgets are way strong! Take a look at Mighty Mouse…..and Liam

i am a fan of both. you can’t say that a boxer will kick a mma fighters or vice versa because there styles are completly different. one spends years working on his hands and the other spends years using every part of their body as a weapon. i have personally takin part in boxing and not in someones backyard im talking legit boxing. i started it when i was going to fullerton college. my sparring partner was a guy who spent his whole life wrestling and through many conversations i have gained a better understanding of both worlds. all boxing fans who denounce mma as weak or gay because of the grappling step in the ring with an mma fighter and see what its like to be choked out by someones legs. mma fans who denounce boxing step in the ring with a boxer and see how it feels to get knocked smooth out by a right hook then imagine what that would be like if he didnt have on a 16oz glove on. in closing if you have not competed in both worlds you have no room to talk because your just a guy screaming at a tv wishing you had the skills this guys have.i will continue to watch both sports and enjoy them equally cause it always fun to watch an ass whippin’ no matter what form it takes.

You points are moot for MMA vs Boxing. MMA is not really comparable to boxing, any more than baseball.. Different rules, different styles, different scoring.

Your comment about the insanity of for example, Hatton retiring based on 2 losses is valid. It’s a joke. I think that he could get better, he has faced Mayweather, and deserves a rematch.. If he can get back and beat Mayweather (or the winner between Mayweather and Marquez), then let him take a shot at the champ (Pacquiao)? Why the hell not? (For the record, Mayweather is not the current pound for pound boxer, that would be Pacquiao)

Your valid point above though really means shit when comparing MMA to boxing.. For the record, I like MMA more, except when it comes to Manny Pacquiao.. Other than that MMA>Boxing
