Dream 9: A MMA event

BBBAAANNNNZZZZAAAIIIIIIIII!!!

Konichiwa whores, it’s your buddy Kevo back with an action packed MMA card straight from the land of the rising sun.  Dream 9, not only do we have the ongoing featherweight grand prix (tournament) but we have the start of an Open Weight Grand Prix staring some freakishly good matchups.  I am not going to cover all the matchups because it will be a lot and my knowledge will probably bore you, or make your face melt, so here we go…gesias-cavalcantetatsuya_kawajiri

  • Gesias “JZ” Cavalvante 14-2-1 vs. Tatsuya “Crusher” Kawajiri 23-5-2

For those who don’t know these two fighters, you’re in for a treat; JZ is a solid all around fighter. He has battled with the best, and beaten most out there.  JZ is coming off a very long break though, his last fight was April 2008, and so he could have a bit of ring rust. JZ is young fighter who’s got a great career ahead of him if he keeps on course; he is training with one of the best groups in MMA right now, he is as good as they come. Tatsuya is no punk either; he is a MMA Veteran and has competed hard for the past 9 years.  Known for his KO power as well as his submission skills.  Certainly the more experienced  fighter of the two, Crusher is a monster in the ring. Tatsuya has fought a much better quality of competition. With that being said, I think its Gesias time to shine now.

Winner: Gesias Cavalvante via TKO 1stmayhem

  • Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza 10-2 vs. Jason “Mayhem” Miller 22-6 (For Vacant Title)

Jacare is an overseas sensation; he is by far a fan favorite of MMA fans around the world.  Jacare, trains with a team headed up by Wanderlei Silva, who is a monster of a man. 9 of Jacare’s wins are by submission, none by KO. You can clearly guess what his strongest skill is. However, here is a fun fact! 3 of his submissions come by way of punches, how bad ass is that! the other guy gave up because he was getting punched in the face too much that=amazing. Jacare is coming off a loss where he was fighting for the Middle Weight Belt. Jason Miller, many of you know from the show on MTV “Bully Beat down”, however, despite his TV persona, Miller is a real MMA fighter, and damn good one at that. Mayhem has fought some of the best out there, including UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre. Mayhem’s bread and butter is his ground game, he has retardedly good skills when it comes to his submission game, he could choke out a gorrilla.. whatever that means.  Mayhem is a colorful fighter, always showing off on the way to the ring, as well as IN the ring, no matter what happens in a fight, he is there to entertain the fans. Interesting enough, these 2 guys fought about a year ago, and Jacare came away with a Decision win. I don’t see this fight going much different in the way of an outcome, both guys will keep it on the ground and it will be a grappling match.

Winner: Ronaldo Souza via Unanimous Decision.warrenkid

  • Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto 17-1 vs. Joe Warren 1-0

This is the only Feather Weight Grand Prix match-up I’m going to talk about, and for good reason. This is the long awaited return of “Kid” Yamamoto. Kid hasn’t fought since December 2007. He has had a string of injuries that had forced him to withdraw from several matches the past 1 ½ years. Kid is a monster; plain and simple 12 of his 17 wins are by Knock out. basically he punches you, and you die.  One of those KO’s was the most impressive Flying Knee I’ve EVER seen, the match starts and he runs at the guy, jumps, knee’s him, and the guy falls over, fucking amazing. Kid is the prototype of  a bad ass Japanese fighter. I can’t say enough about his skills to come close to doing him justice.  Joe Warren has 1 MMA win. Warren was a professional wrestler, the REAL kind, Olympics style. He is an American kid from Oregon. Warren may possibly die in this fight.  His first outing was solid , but this is his 2nd MMA fight, and he’s going against a legend.  His only hope is that Kid has so much ring rust that he physically can’t move his body.

Winner: Norifumi Yamamoto via 1st round KO.f-minowamanbob-sapp

  • Ikuhisa “Minowaman” Minowa 41-30-8 vs. Bob Sapp 10-3-1

The first of the “freak show” matches on tap for Dream 9.  Minowaman has TONS of experience. With over 75 fights on his record, no one can deny that this silly Asian man can fight. Minowaman is known as an entertaining fighter overseas.  His style would best be described as “retarded macho”, he tries moves you would only find watching the WWE, including a flying dropkick. I once read that his training regime is insane, the man literally dodges baseballs to train for a fight. I heard he also chases airplanes down  runways as they are taking off.  Bob Sapp, Freak Show fighter to the MAX! He is a former NFL player and is a trained kickboxer, for whatever reason the Asians LOVE him. Bob Sapp fights at around 350 lbs, in comparison Minowaman fights at around 180 lbs.  That’s almost a 200 lb weight difference. Insane yeah? That’s why Japanese freak show fights are the fucking GREATEST! Anyways, I’m picking Minowaman in this one; don’t ask why because I don’t know.

Winner: Ikuhisa Minowa via 2nd round submissionjosecanseco_choi1

Jose Canseco 0-0 vs. Hong Man Choi 1-2

Time for the main event of Freak showiness!!! Jose fucking Canseco whose known best as a douchebag  and MLB star in the 80′s/90′s.   Apparently Jose has told everyone he’s some kind of martial arts master, thus he wants to fight MMA. I say, bring that shit on!  No one really knows what Canseco’s strengths will be; I suppose his reach would be , except he’s fighting a guy who’s 7 foot 6.  Hong Man Choi is known as the “Techno Goliath”, he is originally a kickboxer. Choi is a monster of a man,  Choi is a genetic freak and clearly has the size advantage on Canseco; he has the skill advantage as well.  I don’t really see any way possible Jose Canseco wins this fight at all, it’s shouldn’t take long.

Winner: Hong Man Choi via TKO in the 1st.

hahahaha I didn’t know about the Minowa vs Sapp freakshow matchup…I haven’t seen either fight in a while so it could be interesting…all I have in my head is Bob Sapp crying when Cro Cop broke his orbital with a left cross. But damn I want to find a way to watch these. Those first two are gonna be real good fights. Im doubting this Warren guy has any chance at lasting too long with Kid. And those freakshow matches are gonna be awesome. Leave it to the Japs to make an interesting card

  3. Mitch Higgins says:

hahah.. silly japs and their crazy fights. Will this card feature 50 midgets versus any kind of wild animal?

  4. Steven says:

These fights arent even on my gambling site! hahaha pretty obscure. Maybe I gotta wait longer.

  5. Rick Z says:

Canseco? are you kidding me? Do i need to reference my post on “MMA vs Boxing”? Why does every redneck on this goddamn planet think they’re MMA masters just cause they wrestled in highschool and watched a few fights on pay-per-view? Oh well, i hope that snitch gets his forehead smashed…..and his hair messed up

Sweet blog! Nice one, I’ll be back for more.

Needs ….that’s the key word, but as many of us MMA fans have seen in many a fight, that doesn’t obligate the fighter to be in great shape…and even if they’ve great cardio, they can punch themselves out with the fight.
